A man who visited a mall in Thane decided to stop by a restaurant for a refreshing glass of mango juice. But after ordering three glasses, he found himself shelling out nearly a thousand rupees! What’s even more shocking is that the restaurant charges Rs 120 of that bill solely for the plastic cups, which, as some pointed out, are reportedly manufactured for less than a rupee each.

“Who the hell charges Rs 40 for disposable plastic glasses to drink mango juice in!" wrote X user Ravi Handa on the microblogging platform. He added, “I knew Mumbai is expensive but this is ridiculous."
As per the picture of the bill shared by Handa, Shahi Durbar in Viviana Mall, Thane, charges Rs 40 for each disposable cup, and Rs 250 for a single glass of Mango juice. Since three glasses of mango juice were ordered, the total shot up to Rs 914.

The post was originally shared by Reddit user “Operation_Whole" on Reddit’s Mumbai community. The original poster explained, “The 250 is not the issue though, we knew the price and still went ahead with the price (very stupid in hindsight, I accept). But it’s the charging of glasses that pisses me off, we weren’t even informed that they’ll charge that."
In response, an individual asked, “So if someone says they don’t want a glass, will they offer juice from tap?"
“Did they say recyclable plastic or something?" asked yet another.
A third quipped, “Those glasses must be antique plastic glass."
“Being in a manufacturing I can tell those plastic glasses don’t even cost 1 rupee, and the audacity of them charging 40 rupees for it is a scam. And juices don’t even cost Rs 60," commented a fourth.
A fifth chimed in, “These glasses are almost 0.2 rupees per piece and this is what they charge. Let alone mango juice for Rs 250. Daylight robbery."
“At first, I thought Rs 40 was for 3 glasses and even that is also too high. Then I saw it’s Rs 40 per glass," expressed a sixth.
A seventh said, “What will they do if you bought only one glass and 3 of you refilled and reused the same glass? #AskingForAFriend."
